The Ceylon Bible Society along with the members of the Women’s Committee, organized an Annual Sale on Saturday 24th of September 2022 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christian Reformed Church, Wellawatte.
We are grateful to God for helping us to organize this event this year, in spite of the many challenges faced by us. Even those who did not hold any stalls helped us with contributions by way of funds. We also thank the Clergies and Institution leaders who helped and encouraged the Women’s Committee members in every way.
We wish to also extend our sincere thanks to the hotels for the generous contributions made by them and also the schools who were supportive.
We thank the members of the Ceylon Bible Society to help us in holding this sale annually. The proceeds from this Sale are mainly used for the printing and distribution of the Holy Bible in Sinhala, English and Tamil at subsidized rates to make it accessible to the public.
Churches and other Christian organizations bring in goods for the stalls that are put up at this event. There are stalls for Food, household Items, Refreshment Stalls, and stalls for apparels etc. In all there were 14 Stalls this year. We thank the Women’s Committee of the CBS for organizing this event with the coordination of the CBS staff. We wish to also extend our sincere thanks to the hotels and companies for the generous contributions made by them and the schools who were supportive.”
The monies that are collected by the various stalls are donated to the Ceylon Bible Society at the end of the day.
This year we conducted the sale, bearing in mind the Guidelines issued for the COVID19 situation by the Government.
We had great pleasure in inviting Mr. Mahen Watson to be our Chief Guest this year and Mrs. Naomi Watson, who were led on procession by the Hewisi Band of Carey College.
They were kind enough to grace the occasion with their presence.
Mr. Mahen Watson thanked the Ceylon Bible Society for inviting him and he felt it was an honour to be present at the Annual Sale of the CBS which has been in existence for two centuries, and is the oldest institution in the country. He wished CBS well so that they would go from strength to strength.
He also encouraged everyone to read the Bible which is the Word of God.
Women’s Committee of the CBS has been always very active and has continuously organized this Sale for many years, and we are thankful to them.
