“ And he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money—not even an extra tunic”. Luke 9:2-3 NRSV.
Healing the Wounds of Trauma Teens’ Initial Equipping Programme was successfully organized at the Ceylon Bible Society Auditorium on 19th, 20th & 22nd August 2022 with the supervision and guidance of Master Facilitators and Master Facilitators in Training in Sri Lanka.
This initial equipping programme was conducted for the Roman Catholic brothers who are being trained at the National Seminary of our Lady of Lanka, Theologate, Ampitiya, Kandy, Sri Lanka and some lay leaders who are going to be Facilitators in TH.
This program brought a new life experience to the participants in the midst of economic and social problems, sicknesses, rejection, abuse, neglect, sufferings, challenges and various other issues in life. They were able to study in depth as to how to find answers to the above in the Word of God. With the guidance of Master Facilitators, all those who participated were able to learn about the life change that can be obtained by offering themselves and their problematic situations to Jesus on the cross. Everyone who attended was of the opinion that this program is a fruitful and a very useful program for everyday life.
At the end of the programme we allowed the participants to share their testimonies and feedback. Here are some of the important feedback which we received.
• At the time of joining they did not know that this programme was such an important one, until the programme itself helped to heal their inner wounds.
• Also they learnt how to deal with the inner wounds and traumas of children and teen and how to heal them.
• They assured that they will be able to serve the traumatized community at the future missions, and help the people to heal their traumas.
• One of the participants said “I was unable to forgive the Doctor who did not give proper treatment to my brother at the critical moment and finally he died of a heart attack. I had a grudge against him until today, but today I was able to forgive him after attending the forgiveness exercise “Taking pain to the Cross”.
