The Ceylon Bible Society conducted a five-day Advanced camp at Ave Maria Convent Bolawalana, Negombo. There were 17 facilitators for the Camp that was conducted for the 80 children who are studying in Grade 5. The camp was conducted in Sinhala from the 24th to the 28th of January 2022.
The participants of this HWOT Children’s Camp were from private school. This Camp was organized by the Ceylon Bible Society at a leading Catholic School in the Negombo area. We would like to make a special mention here, that some of the students studying in this school were children who experienced the Easter Sunday attack in 2019. They are still going through the trauma of that horrific attack, and some students are worried about the separation of their parents.
The sister who is in charge of the children at this private school told us that during this global pandemic, many children are exposed to stress because of the online education and also said that this program is especially useful to the children. Also, said that their children are at times beyond the control of the teachers, and some others have showed different behavior at home and a totally different behavior in school.
The Vice-Principal and the Sister in Charge of the children at this private school, extended their fullest support to the Bible Society in conducting this program.
