The Chief Guest at the event was Mr. Robert Briggs – President and CEO of the American Bible Society. The Meeting commenced with an opening prayer and welcome by the Patron of the Ceylon Bible Society

Rt. Rev. Dushantha Lakshman Rodrigo, followed by welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest by the President of the Ceylon Bible Society, Mr. Eraj Wijesinghe.

During Mr. Robert Briggs’s speech he highly recommended CBS for the efforts on the Trauma Healing Program and stated that CBS is chosen and filled with the knowledge to bring hope and healing to the people in the Nation and also set an example for the Global fellowship and the testimonies are circulating to all the world, and referred CBS as “Global Pace Setters”.

⚬ Another very significant point is the launching of the 10 Gospel Parables in Sri Lankan Sign Language for the benefit of the Deaf community. The Annual Report for the year was presented by the General Secretary of the Ceylon Bible Society Rev. Priyantha Wijegoonawardenan.

⚬ Trauma Healing sessions were conducted in a few areas, once again under very strict directives. So many children were impacted and was truly a blessing to many who were traumatized.

The Sale organized by the Women’s Committee was continued as usual in September 2020 under adequate precautions taken for the safety of the staff as well as the visitors.

Ceylon Bible Society had made every effort to cover most of the activities via zoom. The Sales Teams actively went about with distribution teams when the situation made it possible, delivering Bibles to quite a few districts in Sri Lanka, as long as it was accessible while following all health and safety precautions to ensure the safety of the staff in such distribution trips.

We thank God for his provision in enabling the Bible Society to achieve most of its objective in spite of the pandemic, and for His provision in enabling the Bible Society to achieve most of its objectives although the pandemic was a definite obstacle.
