Future pre-planned Activities / Programmes 2021
If the country situation becomes normal and if we have permission to conduct Children’s camps and programmes, we will start organizing our pre-planned programmes according to the project plan
- The Healing the Wounds of Children’s advance programme will be organized in year 2021 once the Covid 19 has been controlled by the Government. This programme will be organized for the traumatized and ophened children in the “Dimuthu” Children’s Centre, Chilaw.
- Hope to produce a teledrama/ documentary based on Adults’ and Children’s trauma and social issues. After video recording this teledrama we will telecast this on Christian TV Channels in Sri Lanka and distribute to the Churches, Children’s homes and other relevant authorities.
- To produce a book ( Publication of book) which contains the history, Testimonies, lessons learnt, how CBS started TH ministry in Sri Lanka, Challenges, photos , etc) at the end of the year 2020. The main purpose of this book is to give an overall picture of the Trauma healing ministry in Sri Lanka. To produce this book we will be collecting statistics, data, pictures, testimonies, stories, feedback from the facilitators, Churches & organizations etc. We will be able to know how many traumatized Children & adults were healed through this programme.
Our expectations
- The Ceylon Bible Society is hoping to establish and recognize Sri Lanka as the Hub/ Centre for the
Healing the Wounds of Trauma in South Asia
- Sending resource training facilitators to other Bible Societies for training the staff
New Target groups that we expect to approach
- We will be targeting more Schools and Theological institutions this year and next year.
- Targeting School principals, teachers and theological students for the training.
- Targeting children and youth in the rehabilitation centres and Children who live in Slums and streets.
- Approaching the most vulnerable and neglected children and youth in Sri Lanka.
Lessons Learnt
- We should prepare special curriculum with games and activities for a 2 – 3 hour programme when we re-visit those Children’s homes. After re-visiting the St. Vincent’s technical School we came to know and learnt that we should have a brief set programme to be used for those Teen and children. The programme should consist of specific lessons, few activities, games, survey, hymns etc.
- It is always good to organize Children’s TH camps in the organizations where the Children are based on. It will provide the Ceylon Bible Society a safe place.
- It is always good to get children or teen to the same gender rather than letting girls and boys participate together.
- Before registering the prospective participants for the training programmes, we had done an evaluation and brief interviews with them. Through these interviews we have selected the best people to take part in these trainings.
- Organizing of regular follow up or meetings with the facilitators is very important.
