We thank and praise the Almighty God for giving yet another year to bring all glory and honor to commemorate its’ 207th Anniversary of the Ceylon Bible Society had been initially begun on the 1st of August 1812. Nevertheless, it wasn’t a journey on the bed of roses, but through many challengers, obstacles, hardships and commitments had paved the way to walk the milestones of a fruitful service for our faithful partners throughout the whole Nation, in providing Bibles in all three languages and Scripture Materials etc.,
It is indeed a joy in remembering this historical milestone in glorifying God in the way of Festival of Choirs in expressing His Divine Love and guidance upon us. The Patron of the CBS Rt. Rev. Dhiloraj Ranjit Canagasabey had explained that the “music has been an integral part of Christian life and worship from the apostolic times,” and was stated particularly happy therefore that the Bible Society works to keep alive this great gift of sacred music through the annual Festival of Choirs.
The President of the CBS Mr. Eraj Wijesinghe said a prayer in asserting the opportunity for us to offer praise and glory to God the Almighty for His continuous guidance and leadership over the past and the present of CBS.
The General Secretary of the CBS Rev. Priyantha Wijegoonawardena was stated in his welcome speech that the former General Secretaries who had pioneered and steered forward to enhance the ministry of the CBS for better and better by the grace of God journeying hopefully despite of many hard works and Challenges in providing all its necessities as always to carry out the Mission of the CBS successfully in this land.
The Choristers who had represented from different Schools and Churches had been performed well their items in making the audience entertained in creating an atmosphere of the living presence of God in the midst of everyone.
The Ceylon Bible Society celebrated its’ 207th Anniversary on the 1st of August 2019 at 5.00pm, at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.
The Choirs participated this year are as follows:

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda
St. Theresa’s Church, Thimbirigasyaya
Calvary Centre house of Prayer, Kapuwatta, Ja-Ela
Holy Family Convent, Colombo 04.
