An evening of Spirituals to give Praise, Thanks giving and Glory to God, organised by the Ceylon Bible Society was held on 23rd September 2017 at Bishop Lakshman Wickrermasinghe Centre, Kurunegala.
The event commenced with an opening prayer, a reading from the Holy Bible, lighting of the oil lamp and the welcome address by Mr. Nalin Jayawardena.
The first item was a dance by the children of House of Joy Thalawa followed by the choirs of Christ Compassionate Church, Potters House (AOG) , Cathedral of Christ the King, AOG Church , Agape Church all of Kurunegala, Jesus Lives Revival Church Kirulabokke, Corner Stone church of Kudagama and Church of New Life Ibbagamuwa.
The General Secretary of the Ceylon Bible Society Mr. Lakshani Fernando who will be relinquishing her duties as General Secretary after 15 years of tireless, dedicated and committed service addressing the gathering mentioned that The Ceylon Bible Society is over 200 years old and one of the largest networks next to the United Nations, its Vision, Mission and Goal, all for the glory of God, sharing of His Word and to see that the Holy Bible reaches everyone, for the salvation of souls. She further added that the Holy Bible is available in Sri Lanka in English, Sinhala, Tamil Braille and in audio form. She thanked all the participants and all those present.
It was an evening that brought Glory to God and the manner in which the youth blended their voices was amazing, so much passion and emotion was expressed. It was nothing short of being heavenly.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks and a final prayer
